Beta Test Results: A Smarter Command System

One of the biggest takeaways from our recent beta test sessions was the need to simplify and streamline unit activation and command distribution. Previously, players had to track command points and distribute them manually across their units. While this system allowed for flexibility, it also led to excessive bookkeeping and slower turns.
To fix this, we removed the Distribution Phase and command points entirely. Instead, we have implemented a card-turning system, making activation faster, clearer, and more intuitive.

How the New System Works:

  • Each unit now has a matching number on its miniature and card, so players can instantly identify which card corresponds to which unit.
  • Instead of assigning command points, players now simply turn the unit’s card to indicate that it has taken its turn.
  • This removes the need for resource management during activations, keeping the focus on tactics and positioning.

Why This Is an Improvement:

  • Faster Gameplay: Eliminating command point distribution significantly reduces decision fatigue and keeps turns moving smoothly.
    More Strategic Focus: Instead of worrying about allocating resources, players can now focus on executing the best moves with their available units.
    Less Confusion: The matching miniatures and cards make it easy to track which unit has already acted and which one is still available.
These changes have made battles more immersive and engaging, ensuring that Warleague remains a fast-paced, tactical experience without unnecessary complexity.
